You will not want to put down this book of short stories down based on my experiences as a kindergarten teacher! Kindergarteners are notorious for saying the most hilarious things loud and proud for all to hear at the most inopportune times! Every child is unique and different with an ability to make their way into a teacher's heart forever. That's what makes the life of an educator full of laughter, tears, joy, love and of course challenges! This book of short stories was meant to give you a glimpse into the life of a teacher. To help you understand why we do what we do day in and day out despite the hardships we face. This book helps explain our "why" and hopefully to inspire teachers to continue their journey in education despite the rocky road we travel. I hope you enjoy "Tales From a Kindergarten Teacher".

My Thoughts:

I very rarely read or review modern books. It just isn't my thing. But that doesn't mean I can't. And when your teacher bestie writes and publishes her very own book....well....of COURSE I'm going to review it!! I am just bursting with pride to share this book of hilarious stories from my friend Amanda Cisco. She is one of the funniest people I've ever met and she teaches Kindergarten with skill and enthusiasm and I'm so proud she has allowed me to give you a glimpse into her first book based on all the mayhem that goes on in her little classroom each day.

Even if you aren't a teacher you will relate to these stories. She spills it all....from the boy who eats supplies, to the joys of technology bloopers, cafeteria food fights, "alternative art", inappropriate facial hair, and a whole lot of Jesus! These stories are heart felt with a message at the end of every one. They represent the reason we teach, why we love kids, why this job is HARD and rewarding too. And all people who read these stories will come away with something personal to internalize. I love the way she includes her thoughts in a candid way and ends each chapter with how the experience relates to real life for all of us. Kids have a way of teaching us so many things: patience, perseverance and love. And Kindergartners are a world of their own for sure.

If you think you won't enjoy this book because you don't live in the daily world of education, you might be surprised. It will make you laugh and cry at the same time and renew your faith in those who are in the trenches working hard every day to teach the children of our country. This kind of book is sorely needed right now as teachers are feeling so lost and exhausted, wondering if they are making a difference. I'm here to tell you they are. And this book proves it. You will come away inspired and also appreciate how Amanda's faith has carried her through it all.
