My Thoughts:
I was looking forward to this book in the series because I enjoy those set in World War I Russia. The story of the Imperial family and the revolution has always fascinated me. If someone knew nothing about it this would be a fun way to learn a few main points and players. Within the mystery we find Fiona, Kitty, Archie, and Clifford once again battling Fredrick Fredricks, the German spy, sometimes savior, and a host of Russian characters who might be killers.
Fiona becomes mixed up in the politics of the time and it lands her in hot water with the Russian government. Counting on the charity of the women she is imprisoned with, Fiona tries to escape her situation only to find herself in another perilous one.
She is becoming more and more conflicted in each book....Archie or Fredricks? She knows Archie is the dashing, British war hero who she should want but Fredricks is so terribly "bad" that she just can't help herself. I suspect she will end up with Fredricks but that's just a gut feeling. When Fiona becomes entangled with a family there, going undercover as a British nanny, she gets more than she bargained for. The father, shady Iron Viktor, ends up dead, and Fiona must solve the crime with the help of Kitty and her doggie, Poppy.
As the plot thickens and the safety of the Imperial family becomes a factor, Fiona must once again decide if she can trust Fredricks to help her.
I enjoyed Murder in Moscow....these are just fun mysteries with a little bit of atmosphere and history thrown in. It has cute, recurring characters I like and I'm kind of sad there is only one more left.
