My Thoughts:

This was a perfect November/December book to get me into the Christmas spirit. The descriptions of the Irish castles and surroundings, traditional food, and the local, quirky townspeople all made it feel authentic and I appreciated the author's research and interesting details. 

Eleanor, Clifford, and the dog, Gladstone really had a baffling mysyery to solve in this story. From the minute they find the nearly dead man in the road it seems no one wants them involved in questioning anything much less investigating suspicious clues. Of course this doesn’t stop them and after taking the man to a local convent and witnessing odd behavior by the nun and doctor there, they feel obligated to find out why. 

Throughout their search they essentially camp out at the castle Eleanor has inherited from her late Uncle because the staff has suddenly run off and she and Clifford have to rough it. They meet local villagers including a teacher and her students, are sabotaged time and again from car tampering to being chased by suspicious folk. 

All the while they manage to still eat some great Irish meals and fill their notebook with clues. 

I really enjoyed this one. I love all of this series but the Irish setting made it a lot of fun and it really had that winter feeling. There was a lot of outdoor trudging through the snow, Christmas traditions, and castles. And the ending to the mystery was clever and this time directly involved the main characters. Read this one by New Years Eve to get the most out of the seasonal vibes!
